Lightingwood

Lightingwood

Cerise Oday
My name is Cerise Oday. I was born in Prince Dashing's castle 19 years ago. My little sister, Ellany and I have been living in Lightingwood ever since the Dark Ones came and took our father and killed our mother. Miss Red took us in and has helped us grow over the years. Everyone here has a secret identity. Kinda like a superhero except, they are all fairytale characters. My watcher, Miss Red, is really Little Red Riding Hood. The Elders built Lightingwood when the Dark Ones came to power and tried to take over the Fairytale book of Destiny. They wanted to take full control and destroy everything. Luckily, the Elders hid us all in the middle of Elgor Woods. Keeping us safe and hidden for over 50 years. I am a Protecter of Lightingwood. One of their finest I must say. I fight to keep us safe. That is my job and my duty. I will fight to defend my home forever.

"Cerise!" Some one banged on the wooden door that led to my bedroom. "CERISE!!" they screamed. I groaned "What?!" They kicked the door one last time before giving up. "Get up! It's 10:00!  You are supposed to be taking your group out on patrol." I heard them huff and walk away, complaining about how lazy I was. I growled and rolled over to reach my bed stand but, smashed down on the ground hard instead. "Be down in a minuet!" I yelled to them. "Ow." I said as I rubbed my hip. I sat up and scanned my cluttered room. "I really have to clean today." I reminded my self. "Eh. There is always to tomorrow." I got up and made my way down the hall.

Cerise Oday
"Finally! There's the sleepy head." Miss Red stood over a pan of sizzling bacon and eggs. "You stayed up late enough. Honestly, your just a child! Staying up all night on petrol, I must have a talk with Colonel Hood." She huffed under her breath. I looked over at Ellany as I sat down across the wooden table from her. She smiled and winked at me. Miss Red always got upset when my petrols went longer than expected. I decided to speak up and loosen the tension I felt building. "Amber and I are taking the first petrol out this morning. There are some new members joining us and Hood wants Am and I to take 'em out for a test run. Beside, we could use all the help we can get to stop the disappearances." People of Lightingwood have been disappearing. It's my job to figure out why and put a stop to it. Miss Red had set the table with the help of Ellany, as I gave them the run down of my day, and filled my plate with food. I scoffed it down and prepared to meet Amber.

Ezra Ryan
My name is Ezra Ryan. Today is my first day of training to become a Protecter. I just moved to Lightingwood after my village was attacked by the Dark Ones. I lived in an unnamed village a few miles from the Elgor Woods. My mother, younger brother, younger sister, and I were some of the lucky ones who were able to run to Lightingwood and make it there alive. Our house was torched down by the Dark Ones. They burned down the whole village.

Essa’s Tail

I am finally free. I opened my eyes and the first thing I see is my mother’s beautiful face looking down upon me. My eyes drift past her to the ceiling of our cave. We lived atop the highest mountain in Elvashore. I am the first one of my siblings to break free of my prison. I slowly and clumsily push and pull myself out of my shell, and tumble onto the cold wet rock we call our floor. I get to my feet quickly and look about. Five other golden eggs lay clustered around mine, all with tiny cracks, growing bigger by the second. My mother sat curled up near the eggs and me, waiting patiently for more of her offspring to break free of their cages. I looked back at my silvery egg shell and remember bits and pieces of my 1,000 years in it.
I wander to my left a little and notice something very bright shining in through the opening that mother called the cave door. I crept close to the light before stopping suddenly. I wondered what it was. Not knowing if it was dangerous or not, I placed one claw into it. It felt warm and inviting. I pulled the rest of myself into it. I was awfully close to the edge of the ledge now. I crawled to the very edge and looked up. The ceiling was bright blue, and seemed to go on forever. White puffs of smoke were whisked away slowly by the breath of the world. A giant shining ball, to bright for me to look at, shed light onto the cave floor. That was the light that felt so inviting and calming.
Below me, as far as I could see, was a lush green blanket of grass and trees. Occasionally there would be a lake or pond where the water had decided to stay. I wanted to view it all. I wanted to fly out of this cave and discover what it was like out there. Just as I opened my wings, my beautiful majestic wings, I heard my mother purr “Essa” she called to me and I was forced to retreat back to her.
Three of my siblings had finally joined me on the cave floor. Mother told me that my sister, Adina was the first one, after me, to break free. Then our little sister Caiden joined us, then our brother Flare. Adina was older than me by thirty four years, but she took more time to mature than I, she made up for it though in grace. She was smaller than me, but just as beautiful. From the tip of her snout to the end of her tail, she was shimmery black, with violet eyes that gleamed almost brighter than the warm ball of light outside of the cave. Her wings reflected the light of the cave as she opened them, and her teeth were as white as the gentle puffs of smoke outside.
Caiden was a grayish-brown color, but she made up for her ugly color in strength. Her eyes were a dull green, like the dead tree leaves I had seen outside, and she was shorter in length. She was built for battle, while Flare was built for agility. Flare was a dull ash color with shining black eyes. He was long and slender, as like Adina, but he was stronger and more muscular and also the largest of us all. He was going to be very handsome as he got older.
As we all examined each other, the other two eggs hatched. Out of the first egg came our little brother, Saiden. Saiden was bigger than Adina and Caiden in length and mass, but I was a little longer and more muscular. He was dark green, almost brown, with dull golden eyes. As soon as he crawled onto the floor, he went to mother for food. Mother, of course, supplied him with a feast of meat (knowing he would be the meat eater). Out of the sixth egg, came two heads followed by two bodies that looked identical. Mother named them Audin and Sorin. Audin, being the sister, and Sorin being the brother. They both were very small, smaller in mass and length than Caiden, and they both were a copper color. Audin had aqua blue eyes, while Sorin’s eyes were silver. It’s very rare for a dragon of mother’s breed to have twins. Mother was half Griffith and half Blue Dragon. Father is half Green Dragon and half Griffith, making me and all of my siblings mutts.
I looked over at Saiden eating and I realized, I haven’t eaten anything for 1,000 years. I crawled over to him, my long graceful tail swaying behind me, and found a spot for me to eat. Mother pushed a bushel of fruit and plants over to me with her arm. Audin and Sorin came to help me eat the ginormous load of food.
As I was eating, I heard a loud swooping sound outside. As I turned around, a very large silver dragon flew into the opening of the cave. Father was huge and muscular, many battle scars covered him from snout to tail, but he was handsome. He went up to mother and nuzzled her snout before turning to admire his offspring. I was at awe of his size. He towered over us when he stood. When mother stood she was ginormous as well. They both lay down and watched us eat. I finished eating and went up to Father. He looked down at me with a curious look. “This must be my dear Essa.” His voice was strong and full of confidence. I nodded and nudged my way in between him and Mother. He didn’t object, instead, he made space for me and my siblings to all cuddle up and sleep in between him and Mother. I looked up into Mother’s soft and intelligent eyes, then to Father’s confident and brave ones, then fell asleep.

Trapped in a Sea of Forgotten Dreams

Trapped, forgotten by all. All hope is lost. She cursed me. I am trapped here. The one way out has been sealed. I must find true love to be free, I have been cursed to never know love. No one would come here unless they remembered me, but no one would. I am trapped. Trapped in a sea of forgotten dreams.

Lorina's Death

Lorina's Death
We walked quietly, marveling at the wondrous new world we found. Harry walked ahead of me and Lorina, trying to act tough saying things like, "Don't worry, we are fine." and "I will protect you." It seemed to work on Lorina but I was in a trance. The giant trees that grew from the ground weren't even trees at all; they were giant mushrooms, all glowing different iridescent colors such as pink, blue, purple, and orange.
Harry stopped suddenly and spun on his heels. He froze in horror. I turned to see what had frozen my older brother and saw the scariest creature I had ever imagined. His body was that of a dragon, with sleek black scales and long talons. His fangs stuck out from behind his scaly mouth and his eyes glowed red. Scares covered him from the tip of his tail to his head, 30 feet away.
He stood hovering over us, growling as foamy saliva dripped from his mouth. I screamed which made it roar. Lorina turned to run and grabbed the collar of my dress to pull me along. We ran past Harry as he told us to run and not stop. He followed behind us, with the beast on his heels.
"Lorina, take Alice and don't stop! Run into the forest! Hide!" He screamed. Lorina and I ran through the mushroom trees and the overly large ferns until we were a ways away from the trail.
Lorina stuffed me up against the truck of a short mushroom to hide me. "Stay here Alice!" She told me. She ran back the direction we had come. I waited until I thought she couldn't see me, and then chased after her.
I hid behind the 8 foot tall grass and watched Lorina run to Harry who was attempting to battle the beast with a sharp stick. She told him where she had left me and told him to run. They both turned to run back to me with Harry leading.
The beast growled angrily and charged after them. He snapped his jaws near Lorina which startled her so much; she screamed and tripped over a mushroom root.
"Lorina!" Harry screamed as he slid to a stop a ways ahead of her. Lorina turned around and looked into the beast's eyes, pleading for mercy... but finding none. It chopped down on her arm and sent her flying through the air behind it into a mushroom trunk.
She hit it hard and fell to the ground. My hand flew to my mouth as tears clouded my eyes and sobs chocked my throat.
Harry yelled at the beast. "Come get me!" As he ran at the beast. He ran underneath its scaly stomach and drove the sharp stick strait into its heart. The beast screeched and fell over, lifeless and limp.
As my tears spilled from my puffy eyes, I ran to my older sister, praying she would survive, only knowing that she wouldn't. Harry saw me and ran to meet me at her body. I fell to my knees by her side and cradled her lifeless body, blood trickling from her mouth.
Harry crouched and huddled with me in sorrow, morning the loss of our dear sister.
After a while, we stood up. I asked, "Where are we?" Harry was the one who read all the books so I figured he would know what place we were in. "And what was that?"
"I think that was a Jaborwalky." He answered.
"Wait, those only exist in one place. So we are in.....Wonderland."

"A Secret to Keep" A Book by Me

Here is a book that I started writing when I was eight or so and I am still writing it til this day. It's been about five years now and it still isn't finished. Here a sample of it:

                                                          A Secret To Keep
                                                                Author: Rina Love
#1 The Perfect Spot
"Hey Lyss," cried Marina from the ocean shore. "come on in. The water is really warm." It was the beginning of summer break. Alyssa Periwinkle and Marina Shell decided to spend the summer down at the ocean. They had bought a small rustic green cabin with wooden trim three years ago. They were now seventeen.
"I'm coming!" Alyssa called back to her. They have known each other since they were five. They're best friends. They both LOVE the ocean. They lived by it in Florida. Their families decided the girls should go to the Caribbean for the summer.
Alyssa grabbed their masks and fins and ran to meet Marina. Alyssa has dark, shoulder length hair and green eyes. She enjoys adventuring and swimming. She is very funny and can be very stubborn. Marina (or Rin) has blue eyes and golden brown shoulder length hair. She also enjoys adventuring but is more laid back and smooth.
They have a special relationship with the water animals. Most fish will swim away when you get to close, but Rina and Lyss can sit right in the coral reef and, if anything, the fish will only get closer. They spend a lot of time with the dolphins that live rite there, Mieka, Flyn and occasionally Bubbles. Alyssa and Marina get to ride on their backs whenever they wished.
One day, when the girls returned from bathing suit shopping, they decided to have a picnic. They packed up the lemonade, B.L.T.s, sour cream & onion chips and water melon and were on their way. They decided to go to the beach rite in front of their cabin. Nobody ever went there because they didn't know about it.
As they approached the beach, they saw a mountain of rocks. As they got closer, they noticed a large crack in the side off the cliff face. They crawled through it. On the other side of the rocks, was a beautiful cove. Sitting on a rock a little ways out, was a girl that looked about seventeen or so.
"Wow!" they said as they looked ate the aqua blue, crystal clear water. The girl heard them and leapt of her rock into the water. They heard the splash and looked up. Her head was all they could see as she swam out from behind the rock. Slowly she made her way towards them. As she got closer, Marina noticed something strange about the girl.
    "Alyssa," whispered Marina,"look!"

Something BIG, Black, and Fuzzy Comes Stampeding Our Way

Here is a short story I wrote. It is actually real. This did happen to me in exactly the way I described it. I hope you enjoy it!

Something BIG, Black, and Fuzzy Comes Stampeding Our Way
By: Rina Love
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch! “What was that?!” I thought to myself as I sat up and turned to examine the thicket to the right of me. Something big, black, and fuzzy moved through the tightly planted, mini pine trees. The beast breathed heavily as he made a trail through the trees. I turned to face my dad, sitting with his back up against the base of the oak tree on the other side of the path. He turned his head to me and put a finger to his mouth as you would if you were to say “Shhh!”. I nodded and turned my head back towards the thicket, tightening my grip on my rifle just in case. The black beast shoved the trees aside as it marched onward towards the opening where my dad and I sat. I gasped as it broke through the thicket and came stampeding towards us...
Wait, let me start at the beginning…
          BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
“Ugh.” I said sleepily and smacked my alarm clock to make the obnoxious noise subside. I rolled out of bed and marched sluggishly to my door and down the stairs to the kitchen. My dad was awake and packing up hunting gear. He looked up from his hunting pack and smiled.
“Ready to go bring home a deer?” he asked excitedly.
“I guess so.” I said rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
“Hurry up and get ready to go because there isn't much time till daylight breaks.” he said going back to his packing.
“Dad, it’s 4:00 in the morning! We have HOURS until daylight breaks!” I said as I continued my way into the kitchen. The concrete floor on my bare feet was cold and made me wish I had worn my fuzzy slippers.
“We need to get out there before the sun hits so we can have a better hunt.” He answered without looking up. I rolled my eyes while I poured cereal and milk in a bowl for myself. Once done with the milk, I placed it in the cereal cupboard and the cereal I placed in the refrigerator. I started to walk away from the kitchen when I realized my mistake.
“Ugh.” I huffed, spun on my heels and went back into the kitchen. Proves how tiered I am. I thought to myself as I swapped the milk and cereal.
At about 4:30, we were outside, walking up our dark, half mile long drive way. About a quarter of the way up the drive way, we strayed from the path, known so well, and headed off into the dark forest.
Me dressed in a warm camo jacket, thick mud boots, warm camo pants, an orange vest and orange hat, camo fanny pack carrying a rifle and my dad dressed in the same except for his orange back pack carrying his rifle, tromped through the forest until we found a four wheeler trail. We marched along that until we came upon two oak trees directly across from each other on either side of the path. I sat at one tree’s base and Dad sat at the other. I took out a banana from my pack and started chewing away.
About 15 minutes went by before we heard anything.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch! “What was that?!” I thought to myself as I sat up and turned to examine the thicket to the right of me. Something big, black, and fuzzy moved through the tightly planted, mini pine trees. The beast breathed heavily as it made a trail through the trees. I turned to face Dad, sitting with his back up against the base of the oak tree on the other side of the path. He turned his head to me and put a finger to his mouth as you would if you were to say “Shhh!”. I nodded and turned my head back towards the thicket, tightening my grip on my rifle just in case. The black beast shoved the trees aside as it marched onward towards the opening where my dad and I sat. I gasped as it broke through the thicket and came stampeding towards us.
A huge cow moose with fear in its eyes marched uncomfortably towards me. I panicked slightly as it drew nearer and nearer until it was almost on my legs. It came so close that I knew it hadn't have seen us. If it had, it would have bolted away in the other direction. Dad made a loud kissing noise with his lips which drew the moose away from me slightly. It drew the animal away just enough to get it back on the path. I let out a heavy sigh of relief as it disappeared in the brush on the other side of the path. I looked back over at my dad who was smiling delightfully. I smiled back.
When we returned home that afternoon, my mother asked us about our hunt.
“We didn't see any deer,” my Dad told her. “But we did have a moose come awfully close to Rina.”
“You did?” Mom asked me.
“Yes! It was a big cow! Something must have spooked her into the brush.” I answered.
“That sounds awfully exciting!” she said. “I bet you’re both starving now.”
‘Yes! Definitely!” I said. Dad nodded and we all made our way through the cluttered basement to the kitchen.

Time Rasers

Hello! So, since this is my story corner, I decided to post one of the stories I'm working on. I haven't made it very far but I hope you like it.

Time Rasers
Author: Rina Love
Prologue
Have you ever been in an antique shop? You know the place where your mom stops you at the door and tells you not to touch anything because it's old and valuable. Then you go inside and touch things anyway. Well, have you gone and touched things and had the weird feeling of a fire starting inside you and warming you as it radiates through your muscles? If you have, then you’re a Raser like me.
A Raser is someone who goes through time (typically the past) to retrieve items with magic in them. Before you go asking any questions, no. We don't drive race cars and have a crowd of people following us around. Here, I'll explain the process of Retrieving.
Seekers are bookworms. They find the objects then send us, the Rasers, out to retrieve them. We get the objects and send them back for the Extractors. The Extractors are sorcerers. They extract the magic from the item and place the item in the Coliseum. The item can still hold magic if asked to. That's why we keep it.
The Coliseum is where the Seekers and Extractors practically live. That's where all the items stay too. These items could be anything. They could be things from the past like a gas light, sword, shield, and crown. Or it could be something from the future. In all my 87 years, I've never seen anyone go to the future. It's very rare.
Now, being a Raser isn't as easy as it sounds. You don't just use your magic power to go through time, grab the object and come back. That's just too easy. We don't have magic powers to time travel, we have to wear a special ring and say the time and place where we want to go. The ring doesn't always listen to the place where we want to go. It's always within the state though.
Rasers don't always retrieve objects. Sometimes we have to retrieve people who have the potential to become Rasers, Seekers, or Extractors. Once you complete a test, you are given a ring to show what you are. It also helps you and gives you power. Here, let me explain my life of being a Raser...
#1 Becoming Retrieved
"Jared!" called someone down the hall. I groaned, rolled over in my bed and pulled the blankets up over my head.
    "Jared!!!"Screamed the angry voice.
    "What?" I yelled back sleepily.
"It's time to get up. You have school today." I pulled the blankets down and looked at my clock. It read 6:00a.m.
"It's too early." I mumbled and buried my face in the pillow.
"JARED DAVISON!!!" my mother screamed. "GET...OUTA BED...NOW!"
I let out a heavy sigh and threw back the covers. I sat up and swung my legs off the side of the bed. I rubbed my eyes so I could see clearly and stood up. I walked over to my dresser and took out a fairly clean pair of jeans, a red T-shirt and a pair of socks. I got dressed and walked over to my window. I pulled back the curtains and looked outside at the early autumn leaves. I shivered at the thought of walking out there in just my T-shirt and jeans. I turned to my bed-post, grabbed my black hoodie, threw it over my shoulder and walked out my door into the hall. The smell of bacon and eggs quickly caught my attention and I jogged into the kitchen. A plate of bacon, eggs and a side of toast with jelly and a glass of orange juice sat waiting for me on the island that separated the kitchen from the dining room.
"Did you finish your essay for English class and complete all your math homework?" mom asked without taking her eyes of the dishes she was washing.
"Good morning to you too." I mumbled quietly to myself.
"Well did you?" she asked impatiently.

"Yes Mum." I answered. Being a seventeen year old without a dad was a tough life. My dad died when I was five. I still remember waking up one morning and watching the news about a thirty-seven year old man named 'Todd Davison' was killed in an accident. An eighteen wheeler had hit an oncoming dump truck and rolled over onto my dad's car and crushed him. I remember crying and my mother crying. It took us about two years to move on. The accident had been in January during a blizzard. I had always been home schooled and my mom tried to continue it but, her trying to teach me and make money at the same time had just been too hard so she sent me to public school when I turned seven and she got a job as a nurse.
